The central part of the island offers the balanced mix of luscious green scenery, mountain slopes and sea that is typical of Corfu, as well as a variety of beaches and easy access to the amenities of  the local resort-villages. The nearest beach for swimming is only 1.5km or a 5 minute drive away

Further to the north lies the traditional fishing harbour of Kassiopi while there are plenty of exquisite beaches to be explored along the coast.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES

Immersed in an olive grove and overlookingthe sea, , the villa can be an ideal base for hiking or trekking explorations of the surrounding landscape. If you love trekking along unique routes on natural mountain slopes, here you will find landscapes with wonderful views and rare flora (eg wild orchids)
, reaching up to the highest point of Corfu, mountain Pantokrator (914m height). If you are more inclined towards cycling rather than trekking, bicycles can be provided on request. As a matter
of fact, cycling can be an ideal way of exploring the area and accessing nearby beaches.

LOCAL HISTORY AND CULTURE

Aghios Markos (and the nearby area) also offer activities for the visitor  wishing to have a taste of the history of the island and its culture: Walk in the footsteps of Greece’s national poet Dionysios Solomos, explore the ruins of Garoufa Tower, and experience the magic that such cultural events have to offer. There are also a vast number of byzantine frescoes that adorn the many churches of the picturesque villages to be explored. Actually, there are only 200 meters separating the villa from an old Byzantine church with beautiful artwork. The old Venetian village has maintained the history and much of the environment and cultural flavour of the times.
Surrounding the three existing churches, the Pantokratoras, the Aghios Merkourios, which is where all the most important Byzantine frescoes on the island are found, and the church of Aghios Markos / Virgin Lampovitissa, there are houses, annexes, roads and neighborhoods that are still reminiscent of the form of the late medieval period even though Aghios Markos, like all the surrounding areas and villages was devastated by the plundering raids of 1537 and 1716. The relatively small size of the buildings, and the  courtyards create a hospitable and inviting feeling for the visitor.  Folk and brass bands, choirs and traditional festivals, complete the picture of local culture.

AT A GLIMPSE

Just relaxing in the villa’s veranda you can take in the beautiful , landscape and the sea that stretch out and seem to blend with each other and merge with the villa itself. Manavra is in the northeast of Corfu, which happens to be the most beautiful part of the island. Alongside the coast you can find breathtaking beaches which offer you great nightlife, water-sports of all kinds, even paragliding, and boat rental. The positioning of the villa is ideal not only because of the proximity to the beach, but also because it is located between town and countryside which enables great sightseeing. The health care centre is only 2.4km away. The villa and its surrounding environment and landscape enable a wide range of outdoor activities including hiking, walking and mountain biking. The villa’s rustic feel and the gorgeous views of the landscape make for a unique holiday experience. The villa also offers privacy and is reached by a private access road.
